Color Choices
For those who are picky about colors, you’ll be pleased to know that you’ll have 10 choices available. 2 are actually new for 2021: Hydro Blue and Snazzberry. So if you pick one of these, you’ll have one of the first cars on the road with these aesthetics.
Also, what sets the 2021 new Jeep model hybrid apart from other Wranglers is you’ll get Electric Blue detailing all over the exterior, which gives it a striking look.
For the interior, you have a choice between Electric Blue or Heritage Tan for the stitching. You can even upgrade the interior to Black or Dark Saddle leather for a more luxurious feel.
Powertrain
The 2021 Jeep Wrangler hybrid has the turbocharged 2.0L 4-cylinder engine with an 8-speed automatic transmission. On the electric side, the electric motor generator is integrated and has a 17.3-kWh lithium-ion battery.
This powertrain is capable of 375 HP and 470 lb-ft of torque. This hybrid SUV can go from 0 to 60 in 6.0 seconds, which is very decent. Take a look at the hood of the 4xe Hybrid model below:

If you want to bring heavy equipment when off-roading, then you’ll be happy to know that This new Jeep Wrangler hybrid can tow up to 3,500 pounds and carry up to 1,280 of payload.
Driving Modes and More
The 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe hybrid plug-in has several E-Selec driving modes. They include:
- Hybrid
- Electric
- eSave
These are all off-road cruise control options.
For the base and Sahara 4xe trims, you’ll get full-time 4-wheel drive with Trac-Lok. For the Rubicon 4xe trim, you’ll get the Rock-Trac 4WD.
You’ll be able to drive around 25 miles on pure electric before this Wrangler switches to fuel. You should be able to drive up to 400 miles with a full tank of gas. The fact that you can drive on electric only for 25 miles means you’ll be able to enjoy nature in complete silence, giving you an up-close and personal look you wouldn’t be able to get with a regular Wrangler.
Technology
Like with other Jeeps, the Wrangler 4xe has the Uconnect infotainment system. What’s new is the Eco Coaching function, which allows you to see power usage and how well the regenerative brakes are working. You can even look at your driving history and schedule charging times.
Both regular and hybrid 2021 Wranglers will get the TrailCam camera as well.
Extra Features
Of course, as a hybrid vehicle, the 2021 Wrangler 4xe will need charging capabilities. You’ll be able to buy a Mopar 240-volt Level 2 electric charging station should you need a quicker recharging time than 12 hours with a standard wall outlet. You’ll be able to recharge your hybrid’s battery in just 2 hours with this charging station.
There will also be plenty of customization parts from both Mopar and Jeep Performance Parts. You’ll get an exclusive option of a 2-inch lift kit.
How the New Jeep Wrangler 2021 Compares to the Older Models
If you’re familiar with Jeeps, especially wranglers, you might be wondering how the new Jeep Wrangler hybrid compares. Here are a few comparisons.
2019 Jeep Wrangler
Powertrains available on this Wrangler are the V-6 or turbocharged 4-cylinder in either 6-speed manual or 8-speed automatic. Plus, you can choose between 2 or 4 doors. You have the option of removing the top, doors, and windshield.
Because the Wrangler 4xe’s battery is under the rear seat, this does impact its cargo space. So in comparison to the 2019 Jeep Wrangler, its cargo capacity is slightly reduced from 31.7 to 27.7 cubic feet with the seats up, and from 72.4 to 67.4 cubic feet with the seats folded down.
2018 Jeep Wrangler
This was the year turbocharged engines were introduced to the Jeep Wrangler. Drivers could opt for an all-wheel drive system, but only on the 4-door Sahara trim. Like the 2019 model, you can choose between 2 or 4 doors and you can remove the top, doors, and windshield.
2018 Jeep Wrangler JL
This was the first Jeep Wrangler to have hybrid capabilities. As of the 2020 model, you can only choose it for the Sahara trim. And because the 4xe hybrid is coming out end of 2020, you won’t be seeing the JL model after this year.
The standard engine on this model is the 3.6L Pentastar VVT V6, although you can opt for a 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder Chrysler Hurricane engine. This also has an 8-speed automatic transmission, which is comparable to the new 4xe hybrid.
The main advantage this hybrid has over the new 4xe is the option for 2 doors.
Consider Getting the 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe Hybrid Plug-In
As you can see from this 2021 Jeep review, the 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe hybrid plug-in is a fantastic way to keep enjoying these rugged cars while reducing your carbon footprint. In addition, its silent electric motor allows you to sneak up on nature in ways you couldn’t before.
So if you enjoy off-roading and have always enjoyed Jeep SUVs, the 4xe hybrid is definitely one to consider!
